STAY SAFE

STAY SAFE is a Guaranteed Income Program for Survivors of Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) and Transitional-Aged Youth (TAY) living in the City of Los Angeles.

STAY SAFE is a Guaranteed Income program that will provide a total of $24,000 over two years in unconditional cash to survivors of Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) and young people aged 18-24 in Los Angeles, aiming to promote financial independence, healing, and long-term safety within the City. Program participants will join a research study that will measure the effectiveness of the Guaranteed Income conducted by the University of Pennsylvania Center for Guaranteed Income Research (CGIR).
The STAY SAFE program is operated by the Community Investment for Families Department (CIFD) in the City of Los Angeles, in partnership with the vendor FORWARD.

Common Questions
The STAY SAFE Program provides no-strings-attached financial assistance to survivors of intimate partner violence and vulnerable young people ages 18–24. The goal is to help create financial stability and a safer path forward.
To qualify for the STAY SAFE Program, you must:

Live in the City of Los Angeles and be in City Council District 9 or 13

Be at least 18 years old

Have a relationship with a pre-determined Community-Based Organization

Be a survivor of intimate partner violence (IPV) or
-
Be a transitional-aged youth (TAY) — someone between 18-24 who is leaving foster care, the juvenile justice system, or another type of care and preparing to live independently
Applications will be reviewed to make sure people meet these requirements. Once that step is complete, participants will be randomly selected.

The City of Los Angeles
Program funds are flexible and can be used how participants see fit. Each approved participant will get $24,000 total.
There are no restrictions—you can use the money for whatever helps you most, like rent, food, childcare, transportation, school, or other personal needs.
Once you submit your application, you will receive a confirmation email acknowledging that it has been received. This email will include your Application ID. You must share this Application ID with the case worker who referred you to the program and whom you selected in your application, as it is required for referral verification.
All applications will be reviewed for accuracy and eligibility. Eligible applications will then be entered into a random selection process. If any inconsistencies or missing information are identified, an Outreach Specialist will contact you using the information provided in your application.
After the random selection and review process is complete, you will be notified whether your application has been approved or denied (with the reason provided).
If approved, funds will be distributed shortly after. You may then contact the Community-Based Organization (CBO) that referred you to arrange pickup of your U.S. Bank ReliaCard.

You may withdraw from the program at any time by submitting a request via email or phone to customer support at support@forwardplatform.zendesk.com or 1-855-582-3973. Upon receiving your cancellation request, we will review it and provide confirmation.
